[/vc_column][vc_column fade_animation_offset=”45px” width=”1/2″]Vicente Parot was born in Santiago, Chile, where he obtained his engineering undergraduate degree in 2008, electrical engineering professional degree in 2009 and electrical engineering M.S. degree in 2009, all from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. His M.S. thesis work, done at the Biomedical Imaging Center of the same institution, under the supervision of Pablo Irarrazaval, was titled “Application of the Fractional Fourier Transform to Image Reconstruction in MRI.”
After January 2010 he continued to work in the same group, as a full time research assistant, where up to June 2011 he collaborated in several projects, such as Fractional Fourier reconstruction of MRI signals; MR sequence development for liver fat quantification; Calcium wave propagation model estimation from digital images of rat epithelial tissue; Assessment of accuracy of rapid prototyping bone models in biomedical applications; Development of a custom handheld MR compatible button pad for functional MRI studies; Development of custom lighting solutions for an MRI exam room. Additionally, Vicente taught the IEE2103 Signals and Systems class for the 2010-2 and 2011-1 terms at the Engineering School, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. His medical imaging expertise area is MRI and includes image reconstruction, MR signal modeling and simulation.
Presently, Vicente is involved in two M+Vision Projects. One of them, has the goal to improve Colorectal Cancer screening by increasing the sensitivity of Colonoscopy to premalignant lesions. The other project is focused on improving molecular characterization in oncology by multiple radiotracer PET imaging. Both of these projects are being pursued in collaboration with multiple academic institutions in Boston and Madrid, and have clinical advisers in both cities.
